Developer Relations Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical technical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in JavaScript, Python, and SQL.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with any of these: BigQuery, Business Intelligence Tools, Business Data Visualization.
  • Experience with story telling with data or online content production (technical blog posts, videos etc).
  • Ability to contribute to open source projects.
  • Ability to do public speaking or present to large audiences on technical topics.
  • Ability to be an active contributor to online technology communities (e.g., Stack Overflow).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Part community manager and part developer advocate, Developer Relations Engineers collaborate with developers at conferences and online, and advocate for developers interests internally at Google. Not afraid to be hands-on, you write sample code and client libraries as well as participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter. Internally, you work with product engineering teams to improve our products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs, and testing new features. Chrome, Android, App Engine, HTML5, and our core Google Workspace and Ads APIs are just some of the platforms you promote and support.

The Looker Developer Relations team drives the excellence and adoption of all Looker products by inspiring developers with the possibilities of Cloud Business Intelligence (BI) technology and by making all developers successful.

Looker is a unified platform that powers data experiences and delivers actionable business insights to employees at the point of decision. Looker integrates data into the daily workflows of users to allow organizations to extract value from data at web-scale.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on Google Cloud's Business Intelligence applications including Looker and Conversational Analytics.
  • Work with Engineering, Product Management (PM), Outbound Product Management (OPM), Customer Engineering (CE), and Marketing teams to identify exciting developer use cases and advocate for external developer requirements.
  • Build public content (videos, articles, demos, codelabs etc.) for external developers and users.
  • Engage with external developers in live events (e.g., Google Cloud NEXT) and public forums including Cloud Community website, Github etc.
  • Collaborate with team members to build maintain open source developer tools for the product.
