Associate Regulatory Counsel, Content, Consumer, Kids and AI

Minimum qualifications:

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.
  • 3 years of experience as attorney in government, in-house, or at a law firm.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with regulatory compliance, including addressing, minimizing and avoiding regulatory risk in a technology company environment.
  • Experience in collaborating with regulators, including content or consumer protection authorities.
  • Experience with managing product launches, developing and maintaining compliance programs that ensure products comply with laws and external commitments, and partnering with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to enable responsible innovation, and meeting the standards of integrity.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the knowledge of technical issues.
  • Excellent communication, time management, problem solving, and investigative skills.

About the job

Regulatory Affairs helps the company innovate responsibly and comply with laws around the world. The team partners across Global Affairs, Product Areas, and the rest of the company to ensure engagement with governments and regulators while mitigating risk.

In this role, you will join a global team that provides subject matter expertise and engages with regulators, academics, and others to consider the role of content, consumer protection, kids safety and related Artificial Intelligence (AI) laws in the changing economy, the development of new technology, and passage of new laws and regulations. You will be shaping and interpreting laws, partnering with internal stakeholders across the company to mitigate risk and implement compliance programs, and help to communicate the compliance externally.

Responsibilities

  • Shape laws and interpret compliance obligations into requirements for compliance, business, product, and engineering teams.
  • Provide legal advice on compliance programs and policies to help mitigate risk.
  • Manage government and regulator discussions, negotiations, and disclosures on compliance readiness efforts.
