Staff UX Research Manager, Google Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in an applied research setting, or similar.
  • 3 years of experience leading design projects and managing people or teams.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.
  • 8 years of experience conducting UX research on products.
  • 7 years of experience working with executive leadership.
  • 5 years of experience managing projects, and working in a changing organization.
  • Passion for the ML/AI space.

About the job

The Core ML UX team is building a future where machine learning (ML) is accessible and enjoyable for all developers. We design, build, and improve Core ML's product portfolio, used by ML developers, data scientists, and ML engineers. We collaborate with research groups like Google DeepMind and product teams like YouTube and Search to bring ML/AI capabilities, including Generative AI, to Google's platforms and products.

UX Research Managers are advocates for the people who use our products as well as the members of their teams. They are experts at using qualitative research methods such as field studies, interviews, and diary studies to shape product development and influence overall strategy.

In this role, you’ll take the time to understand not just the execution side of UX, but also the business aspects of the products we build. You’ll collaborate with leaders of other UX, Engineering, and Product Management teams to create innovative experiences across all of Google’s products, leveraging your passion for brand, craft, and design quality.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $168,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Manage UX Research Program to help accelerate developer velocity in model development.
  • Manage UX Research Program to help understand and build AI Data products and services.
  • Define, illustrate, and visualize customer user journeys to help spot gaps and opportunities in current user experience and influence future product roadmaps.
  • Develop strategy and roadmaps to help support a program that supports OKRs created by product partners and stakeholders.
  • Manage a team of qualitative and quantitative researchers and support career development.
