Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java).
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 5 years of people management experience.
- Experience in mobile application development (either Android or iOS).
- Experience leading teams in image & video editing, media consumption, or creative applications.
- Track record of building successful consumer features and bringing them to market quickly - from prototyping to productionization.
- Track record of working with cross-functional teams and building partnerships internally and externally.

Google Photos is a photo sharing and storage service developed by Google. Photos is one of the most sought after products at Google and is looking for both client-side (web and mobile), with server-side (search, storage, serving) and machine intelligence (learning, computer vision) Software Engineers. We are dedicated to making Google experiences centered around the user.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Set the team’s vision and strategy to grow editing usage and engagement across Google Photos’ user base, bringing the best of Photos’ image and video editors to all.Â
- Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role and aligned to the broader organization's goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development and provide feedback and coaching.
- Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
- Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with Photos’ product, UX, and infrastructure teams - along with Research groups across Google. Work across these groups to bring editing features to core surfaces in the Google Photos app.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and initiate cross-Photos and cross-Google partnerships to develop new features to beautify users’ libraries.
