Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience troubleshooting technical issues for internal/external partners or customers.
- 5 years of experience manufacturing and deploying operational compute/storage hardware in a lead capacity.
- Experience in operating within regulated or secure government frameworks.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in evolving a functional work group or establishing new operational processes within a larger organization.
- Experience in Design for Excellence (DFx) with a focus on assembly, quality, and cost-efficiency.
- Track record of improving hardware reliability and serviceability for systems that cannot be remotely managed.
- Knowledge of multiple engineering domains or specific manufacturing processes relevant to secure cloud infrastructure.
- Understanding of sovereign requirements.
About the job
As a Technical Solutions Consultant within the Google Australia Sovereign Cloud team, you will be a driving force behind the technical execution and operational scaling of secure private cloud services. Beyond executing complex deployments, you will be instrumental in architecting the team’s internal functions and scaling our hardware capabilities to meet the needs of the Australian Federal Government. You will own high-complexity deliverables and act as a critical bridge between engineering theory and field-ready sovereign technology.

Responsibilities
- Lead the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and frameworks that will allow the team to scale hardware functions across Australia.
- Own the lifecycle of multiple medium-to-high complexity projects, focusing on manufacturing process development, quality control, testing and throughput.
- Manage the logistics and technical deployment of tactical edge and mobile data center hardware, navigating customer needs and constraints in power, weight, and extreme environments.
- Ensure the reliability and serviceability of systems operating in disconnected environments, ensuring they meet strict sovereign and regulatory requirements.
- Guide junior analysts and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure the integration of hardware activities with broader Google product roadmaps.
