Technical Program Manager, Google Distributed Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of technical program management work experience.
  • 10 years of experience with software development and managing execution of programs that span multiple engineering teams.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in a software program management role in SaaS/PaaS, cloud computing or enterprise software.
  • Experience in tightly partnering with engineering, product management and support teams to facilitate the design and delivery of features, bringing user-focused products to market.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, a track record of successfully delivering complex software products, and in-depth knowledge of project management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and discussion skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical groups.
  • Excellent technical judgment and leadership across organizational and team boundaries.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $227,000-$320,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Own and drive large programs cutting across multiple Google teams; able to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple simultaneous projects with engaging priorities simultaneously.
  • Be the trusted owner of the status of our projects/programs. Drive visibility on progress/dependencies/risks/issues to the Executives and other stakeholders. Manage communication of progress/status with customer groups; own and nurture relationships between cross-functional teams.
  • Bring in our technical expertise, our program management experience and our leadership skills to help the team improve and accelerate their execution.
  • Build partnerships across Google and leverage our credibility and technical acumen to drive process improvements and efficiencies that lead to better quality and increased velocity/productivity.
  • Supervise our team of Technical Program Managers (TPMs), provide coaching, mentorship, and leadership for each TPM you lead.
