Head of Clean Energy and Power

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 14 years of experience in the international energy sector including clean energy, grid infrastructure, or energy policy.
  • Experience in working with utilities, regulators, and government agencies.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams including developing talents.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in commercial negotiations like Power Purchase Agreements, energy supply agreements, and renewable energy financing.
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with multiple stakeholders including government officials, industry partners, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
  • Knowledge of power generation technologies, grid operations, regulations, and market structures in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

About the job

Google's infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.

The Energy and Location Strategy (ELS) team provides the structure, tools and solutions to ensure that Google meets its growth goals.Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of managers and energy professionals across Asia-Pacific (APAC). Promote a collaborative environment that empowers the team to innovate, achieve goals, and develop careers.
  • Drive all energy procurement for Google's data centers and operations in APAC. Lead the negotiation of renewable energy agreements and commercial agreements. Support Google's data center growth and expansion by advising on energy market changing environment.
  • Serve as the primary external representative for Google on energy policy and market development in the region. Build relationships with government officials, regulators, utilities, and industry groups to shape policy and accelerate the transition to a clean energy grid.
  • Identify and evaluate new energy supply and infrastructure investment opportunities. Invent or enhance approaches to solve business tests, ensuring goals are met with creativity and efficiency.
