Commission Accounting Analyst, Google Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • Experience with commission systems and spreadsheet software.
  • Experience managing project planning, status reporting, timeline estimation, issue tracking, meeting facilitation, and project documentation.
  • Experience with United States GAAP and internal control best practices, including a solid understanding of accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with general incentive commission workflows from contracting to payout SQL or Python skills.
  • Ability to have strong attention to detail and focus on continuous improvement, with excellent organizational and problem solving skills.

You will advise on financial and accounting matters and will review, analyze, and interpret data for accounting and reporting. In this role, you will collaborate with our global team, advocate best practices and take initiatives to pitch in when needed. You move fast while keeping your attention to detail, and problem-solving skills to support Google's business objectives.

From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for learning and analyzing a complex network of systems and reporting tools utilized to analyze and assess commissions and associated capitalization.
  • Utilize analytical tools, including SQL scripts, to design and implement solutions that can scale, while identifying and escalating barriers to management. Independently navigate, pursue and achieve access to key data sources while maintaining professional skepticism around control reliance.
  • Create exceptional detailed documentation for all processes and tasks with the expectation of keeping these up-to-date with an ever changing environment. Elevate steady-state manual processes to a semi-automated or automated scalable solution.
  • Understand the existing control environment with the ability to further identify risks and effectively communicate and execute opportunities for improvements. Manage data consistency across various systems and be responsible for related IPE testing.
