News Partner Manager

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in business development, partnerships, management consulting.
  • Experience working with C-level executives and cross-functionally across all levels of management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in the media and news industry.
  • Experience in stakeholder management that enables close working relationships with key leaders internally and externally.
  • Experience negotiating commercial agreements.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, solve complex problems and scale effectively across a distributed organization.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analysis skills, combined with business judgment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to clarify and communicate complex issues to executive-level audiences, both internally and externally.

About the job

As a News Partner Manager, you will manage relationships with news organisations across Southeast Asia and South Asia Frontier (Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka), finding ways for them to reach new audiences and build new business streams via Google’s products in order to grow their businesses. You will educate news publishers and news associations about Google’s products and resources. You will serve as a trusted advisor to both national organizations and independent publishers. A key part of your role will involve collaborating closely with various internal teams at Google, including YouTube, Play, Public Policy, Communications, Marketing, and Product, to successfully roll out specific projects and initiatives.

You will also be responsible for identifying and developing commercial opportunities that align with Google's broader product and business objectives. From managing our partner’s daily needs to introducing them to new opportunities for partnerships, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Google’s news initiatives as we strive to bring authentic, credible and sources of news to Google’s users.

The Global Partnerships organization is responsible for exploring new opportunities with Google's partners. Google’s Global Partnerships team works with a wide range of partners to bring the best of Google to power their business. The Global Partnerships team supports Google’s own Product teams with essential partnerships to help Google’s user experiences in advertising, Search, Assistant, Maps, Travel, Shopping, Payments and more. Teams create product-enabling partnerships, go-to-market strategies and incubate business growth for a variety of products.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate publisher relationships and identify opportunities to grow audience and business for news publishers. Leverage knowledge of their business models to strategically align Google’s products with their goals.
  • Partner closely with internal Google teams to manage and grow partnerships with news organizations. Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver unified 'One Google' solutions to news partners.
  • Design, gather resources and conduct regular outreach and training to news publishers as well as news associations to represent Google and its products both 1-1 and at relevant industry events.
  • Gather market insights and build product expertise to inform team strategy. 
  • Manage all aspects of commercial contracting, from identifying opportunities within your partnership portfolio to initial negotiations, communication, contracting, and providing ongoing operational support.
