About the job

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams.

The Global Submarine Networks (GSN) builds and operates the subsea infrastructure powering Google’s products. Within this organization, the Cable Build team integrates expertise in marine construction, fiber-optic networking, and agreement negotiation to deliver critical infrastructure through a culture of collaboration.

You will lead a regional team of experts in fiber-optic submarine cable construction. You are responsible for aligning regional project assignments with network capacity demands and Product Area-level objectives while driving organizational effectiveness across the portfolio. By leveraging subsea market knowledge, you will set the direction, advocate for project execution improvements, and lead regional policy formation.

Beyond team leadership, you will manage the vendor relationships and collaborate with global leads to refine the processes. You will serve as a bridge between regional execution and global strategy, requiring cross-functional engagement with legal, financial, and logistics teams. You will drive organizational change and ensure the successful delivery of infrastructure projects.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the APAC Cable Build team to expand global infrastructure and bring high-speed connectivity to the markets.
  • Manage and mentor a team of Technical Program Manager (TPMs) and Program Managers, fostering a productive and collaborative culture aligned with Google’s core values. Identify skill gaps and delegate tasks to empower team members and accelerate their career growth.
  • Oversee the regional programs to drive efficiency, ensuring all initiatives map directly to organizational Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Serve as the primary link between APAC and global leadership to synchronize strategy, manage organizational change, and improve processes.
  • Drive executive transparency through reporting and manage key vendor relationships to ensure high-quality, on-schedule, and on-budget delivery.
