Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in Product Management, with 5 years of experience managing product portfolios and directly managing teams.
  • Experience overseeing product development for developer tools, cloud-native platforms, or core infrastructure products, with a focus on Generative AI (GenAI) technologies.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience driving open-source strategy and building successful developer communities.
  • Experience setting and driving product outlook and strategy, with demonstrated impact across multiple product areas (PAs).
  • Experience working with foundational developer tools, such as CLIs or IDEs, and an understanding of the developer experience.
  • Proficiency in product analysis and strategic insights (e.g., market sizing, competitive analysis, and long-term monetization strategies).
  • Technical understanding of AI orchestration frameworks, agent systems, and automation across the entire software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions to drive business model innovation and define and drive product led growth monetization.

About the job

The Gemini Command Line Interface (CLI) is the foundational, high-velocity developer interface for accessing Google's GenAI tools and cloud services. It enables complex task automation, script integration, and real-time interaction with Gemini models, and it is a mission-critical growth driver for the developer platform in Google Cloud. This role defines the CLI's long-term roadmap to become the definitive, friction-less gateway for enterprise developers building with Gemini.

As a Director, you will own the outlook, strategy, and execution for the Gemini CLI product portfolio and define its critical role within Google’s suite of developer tools. This is a business-critical role accountable for delivering significant product area-level impact by transforming how developers interact with Google's GenAI tools and cloud services. You will lead teams to conceptualize and execute a cohesive strategy that addresses highly complex, multidisciplinary product challenges across various Product Areas (PAs) at Google, positioning Gemini CLI as the definitive gateway for developer productivity and AI orchestration. This role reports to the Senior Director of Product Management, Developer Tools and Operations in Google Cloud.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $272,000-$383,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and set the overall, long-term product outlook and narrative for the Gemini CLI, ensuring the portfolio achieves an outcome greater than the sum of its parts.
  • Establish and deliver on a shared outlook across Google by overseeing cross-product collaborations and leading efforts to align team directions, preventing organizational silos.Own the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with product/company goals, the competitive landscape, and customer insights.
  • Oversee all aspects of product development and lifecycle management, including leading launches, maintenance, and strategic deprecation or consolidation of features in collaboration with cross-functional partners.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing product management team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement, including mentoring team members, setting clear objectives, and ensuring alignment with overall company goals.
