Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, or Interaction, or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of experience related to product design and development.
- 10 years of experience in a senior role creating strategy and designing products, including experience leading senior teams and experience managing managers.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working collaboratively with senior designers, and executives in product management and engineering.
- Experience in elevating product craft.
- Experience making key contributions to innovative, successful products.
- Strong understanding of AI technologies.
- Ability to create a culture that nurtures talented UX team members, solves complex design problems, and delivers simple product solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate positions and advocate designs.

The Director of UX for Applied AI will play a strategic role in helping drive the future of Google Cloud AI and its role to deliver AI-powered cloud applications that transform how enterprises operate, innovate, and grow. In this role, you will bring a blend of clear product vision, a high bar for craft, and strong organizational leadership. You will drive collaboration, transparency, and clarity between multiple teams, and functions, while fostering a culture of user-centric design. You'll decipher the nuances of technically complex problems, and articulate and advocate for a UX viewpoint. You'll provide a strong product design sensibility, and create simple, elegant solutions for complex, data-rich workflows.
As a User Experience leader and product executive, you'll help define and drive the future of collaboration. You will apply your passion for excellent user experiences to guide research and design processes, develop and grow talented members of your team, and fully enable your teams to create the best possible experiences across all Applied AI.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $253,000-$363,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Drive a compelling product vision for Applied AI working with Product Management, Engineering, and cross-Google UX teams.
- Contribute to strategic roadmaps with cross-functional leadership and manage multiple complex schedules to on-time delivery.
- Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship across a multi-disciplinary organization of Interaction Designers, Researchers, Visual Designers, Prototypers, Writers, and Program Managers.
- Build strong relationships and operating rhythms with leaders across Apps to drive user experiences that are cohesive, inclusive, and well-informed.
- Foster Google’s culture and product quality principles within the group, while setting new standards in executional and product excellence. Attract, hire, and grow an exceptional design team.
