Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience in program management.
- 7 years of experience in leadership roles with/without direct reports.
- Experience in hardware/software integration.
Preferred qualifications:
- 3 years of experience with Agile software development (Scrum, Kanban or others).
- Experience driving software development for complex commercial hardware systems from research/concept through production and sustainment.
- Experience with machine learning, quality assurance, operating systems, cloud compute or factory test software.
- Experience with software release management.
- Experience driving partnerships.
- Experience creating simple automation and analysis scripts using Bash, Python, Apps Script, Javascript, etc.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.
Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams.
As a Software Technical Program Manager, you will improve efficiency and accelerate all areas of software on Google Beam. You will manage a team of program managers, as well as provide individual contributions. Team scope includes local and cloud computing, core infrastructure, OSs (Chrome OS, Android, Linux), platform, core applications, user experience design, computer vision, machine learning, data collection, data infrastructure, fleet management, hardware-in-the-loop testing, quality assurance, factory support, and internal and external partner management.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of program managers and vendors to ensure comprehensive and efficient coverage of all facets of software development, driving end-to-end software product readiness for Google Beam commercial products.
- Lead all aspects of software planning, hardware-software dependency tracking, execution, tracking validation, velocity measurement, and communication to enable the Google Beam business.
- Decompose and align program level priorities against software projects, tasks, resource allocations, and key dependencies. This includes balancing priorities across multiple cross-functional stakeholders, core software functionality, stability, scalability, feature development, factory support, partner support, marketing activities, customer support, and research and development.
- Maximize software developer efficiency through planning visibility, proactively identifying dependencies, minimizing meeting and tracking overhead, etc.
- Drive internal and external partnerships.
