Designer, Doodles, Brand Studio

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience working in Editorial Art/Design at an editorial (magazine, newspaper) or design/interactive agency or in-house team.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions) of creative work displaying experience in multiple media formats ranging from painting, illustration, motion and interactive.
  • Experience collaborating with design and motion teams (both internal and external partners).
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Sketch, Figma and other design tools.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience working in a creative discipline, including product design (e.g., writing, filmmaking, video editing, design, art direction, photography, etc.).
  • Experience working at a complex organization and excellent communication, organizational and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of design and technology trends and an understanding of consumer insights and how to apply these to Google projects.
  • Ability to work in a fluid, ambiguous environment and manage projects.

By combining user insights, strategic thinking, beautiful design and storytelling, our team creates a wide range of work that drives Google’s reputation for being helpful to people, businesses, and communities. Our work also aims to build advocacy and trust in the brand. To achieve that, we’re a multidisciplinary team of marketers, strategists, insights specialists, creatives, producers, and engineers who work together to create exceptional marketing.

You will be working with a specialized team crafting Google Doodles - the spontaneous and delightful changes made to the Google logo. Doodles celebrate a range of local and international topics ranging from holidays and anniversaries, cultural and educational moments. Doodles span a range of formats including static illustrations, animations, videos, and interactive games. Over their 25 years of existence, Doodles have become a beloved part of Google Search.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$205,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Execute Google Doodles from conception to production, collaborating with internal teams and external artists and production partners.
  • Incorporate feedback from stakeholder reviews and adjust deliverables based on project needs.
  • Design system strategy for Google Doodles and implement design across various touchpoints. Art Direction across global markets, varied topics, wide aesthetic ranges and cultural expertise.
  • Craft conceptual artworks that convey complex narratives that are visually excellent and showcase the best of contemporary design.
  • Operate as a subject matter expert in the most current practices of design, fine art, typographic style, interactive and video storytelling.
