Senior UX Qualitative Researcher

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in an applied research setting (e.g., product or academic), or similar.
  • Experience with research methods (e.g., usability, studies, contextual inquiries, 1:1 interviews, unmoderated research studies).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience research methodologies and artifacts (reports, journey maps, etc.).
  • Experience in designing and executing various research methods like usability studies, surveys, and contextual inquiries.
  • Experience command of user research questions and technical tools for data analysis and measuring user experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, adapt to changing priorities, balance user and business needs, and communicate complex outcomes across all organizational levels.

Privacy, Safety and Security UX is the team that makes it easy to protect the Alphabet by designing cyber-security, governance, and protected data products.

As a UX Researcher on our team, you will work on the complex and critical challenges of identity and access management at Google. You will in-depth search into the needs of various users – from service owners who need to easily configure and enforce access, to new employees requiring a simple and secure on-boarding experience. Your research will help simplify the process of getting the right access to the right people at the right time, all while ensuring our systems provide appropriate controls for monitoring and compliance. You will have the opportunity to influence products that are fundamental to how every Googler works. Your insights will help us solve intricate problems like simplifying group and email list management and enabling secure collaboration with external partners. By understanding the journeys of access requestors, approvers, and auditors, you will help us build solutions that are not just effective, but also intuitive and user-friendly, directly contributing to our mission of making identity and access management simple, quick, and effective within Google.

This involves building and maintaining the foundational infrastructure for authentication and authorization at a massive scale, safeguarding everything from individual user accounts to consumer device accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive multi-phase research roadmaps, spanning both tactical and strategic efforts across the product portfolio.
  • Design, plan, and conduct research to uncover actionable insights, identifying user needs, pain points, and opportunities.
  • Answer key research questions by synthesizing qualitative and quantitative data from sources, applying various methodological approaches throughout the product life-cycle.
  • Communicate research findings through compelling reports and presentations, influencing product strategy and delivering actionable insights to stakeholders, including executives.
  • Collaborate closely with Design, Product Management, and Engineering leaders to ensure product excellence and drive strategic direction.
