Head of Packaging, Global Manufacturing Operations

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program or project management.
  • 5 years of experience in a leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in packaging-centric roles, with 5 years of experience in a leadership/people-management capacity.
  • Experience managing 3PL/4PL relationships and an understanding of the "Port-to-Data-Center" flow, including the impact of humidity and vibration during ocean/air freight.
  • Experience implementing circular economy principles, including reusable transit packaging (RTP) or closed-loop recycling programs.
  • Experience leading ambiguous programs, along with the ability to navigate "Change Management" within a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Understanding of corrugated design, cushion curves, and palletization optimization software (e.g., TOPS, Cape Pack) along with familiarity with ArtiosCAD or SolidWorks.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$274,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a 3-5 year global packaging strategy, directly advancing Google’s *NetZero 2030* goals through material science innovation.
  • Lead packaging reliability as the ultimately authority, conducting validation through AdSpam Traffic Metrics (ASTM) and International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) protocols while leveraging Finite element analysis (FEA)/Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) data to predict performance.
  • Oversee kitting operations at the Contract Manufacturing level, ensuring just-in-time delivery of packaging materials stays aligned with server production schedules to achieve high on-time-delivery rates.
  • Safeguard the organization against global mandates, including European Union Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU PPWR) and European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)by ensuring all wood-based and plastic materials are fully compliant and documented.
  • Manage a multi-million dollar Opex/Capex budget and optimize annual spend through sourcing and engineering activity.
