Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in product management or related technical role.
  • 2 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch (e.g., ideation to execution, end-to-end, 0 to 1, etc.).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience building or shipping camera, photos, or media-related products.
  • Experience in camera systems, high-fidelity imaging, or media pipelines across multiple device form factors.
  • Experience building products that leverage computer vision, machine learning, or AI-driven media technologies.
  • Experience delivering zero-to-one products and technologies (i.e., new technology introduction) and developing consumer electronics hardware products.
  • Familiarity with XR, ambient computing, or wearable devices.

Our team works closely with creative engineers, designers, marketers, etc. to help design and develop technologies that improve access to the world's information. We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users.

As the Camera and Photos XR Apps Product Manager, you will lead first-person capture and media experiences across Google’s XR devices. You will define how users capture, relive, and share their world through heads-up and hands-free interactions. This role is part of the XR Apps team responsible for building the core applications that define why users put on an XR device every day, enable users to get value from XR devices, and shape the next-generation immersive computing platform for Google.

Google's XR team is at the forefront of the next major leap – the convergence of AI and XR. This is more than just new devices – it's about reimagining how we interact with the world around us. We're building a future where lightweight XR devices pair with helpful AI to augment human intelligence, offering personalized, conversational, and contextually aware experiences.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead the definition and delivery of media creation and viewing apps, translating user behaviors into engaging XR experiences. Apply knowledge of photography and videography to push the boundaries of the camera stack on XR devices.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to define our Camera hardware roadmap for XR products, ensuring hardware capabilities align with ambitious media experience goals. Partner on strategy that can adapt to multiple types of XR devices.
  • Understand user point-of-view content capture and interaction needs and behaviors, translating insights into engaging and effective XR experiences. Drive a quality-first culture, ensuring that the camera and photos app are performant, stable, and battery-efficient.
  • Collaborate with User Experience (UX) and UX Research teams to define delightful, functional, and intuitive XR apps that set the standard for privacy and responsible wearable capture.
