Senior Software Engineer, Pixel System Security

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in the C++ and Java programming language.
  • 2 years of experience in building software for data privacy or security.
  • Experience with system security.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with CI/CD Infrastructure, continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines and systems.
  • Experience with secure hardware features, such as isolated execution environments (e.g., TEE), access control, and secure debug.
  • Understanding of security architecture on Android devices.

The Pixel Privacy/Security team is dedicated to building security products and safeguarding user privacy. We are committed to driving New Technology Introduction (NTI) initiatives, building security infrastructure within the privacy and security domain, and integrating these solutions into the Pixel ecosystem.

In this role, as a member of the team, you will have the opportunity to analyze threats and develop mitigations and solutions for embedded systems, design and deploy security architectures on Pixel devices an define security requirements that will shape the design of next-generation hardware and software.

The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement infrastructure to ensure the quality of security software deliverables, including security audits and Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Develop signing infrastructure to guarantee the integrity of Pixel images.
  • Work cross-functionally and collaborate with peer teams to design, develop, and deploy security features on Pixel devices.
