Technical Program Manager II, OSP Fiber Construction, Google Cloud

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience in Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber Construction.
  • Experience managing fiber and telecom vendors.
  • Experience in fiber optic troubleshooting and analysis.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certification in PMP.
  • 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in fiber optics, lit fiber, and ISP infrastructure.
  • Experience in fiber delivery activities and testing and fiber troubleshooting.
  • Experience in Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR).

You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Global Network Solutions team plans, acquires, and delivers the network infrastructure assets that connect Google's Data Centers to our users and Cloud customers throughout the world. Google's hyper-scale global network enables the reliable transfer of data across metros, countries, continents, and oceans. Nestled within Global Network Solutions, the Fiber Asset and Delivery team oversees the delivery lifecycle of fiber assets acquired from carrier infrastructure providers ensuring all the elements are stitched together to deliver Google's products and services.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $138,000-$198,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Assist upstream planning and acquisition teams in developing infrastructure requirements, priorities, and delivery date expectations.
  • Manage the delivery of large-scale network infrastructure projects involving long-haul dark fiber, metro fiber, leased capacity/circuits, and inside plant fiber from inception through delivery. Ensure facilities are delivered on schedule and meet technical specifications.
  • Serve as primary North America or South America vendor contact for these activities.
  • Lead kickoff and regular project status meetings while keeping downstream teams at Google aware of project and delivery status.
  • Oversee the program to handle all vendor handover documentation, i.e. LOA/CFA (Letter Of Authority, Customer Facility Assignment), DLR (Design Layout Record) completion notification, test results and technical drawings while working with vendors and Google staff to coordinate and facilitate excellent record-keeping and communication.
