Engineering Analyst, Google One

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • 2 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative discipline.
  • 2 years of experience working on signal development, data analysis, cyber security, or anti-abuse.
  • Experience in SQL, building dashboards, data collection/transformation, visualization/dashboards
  • Experience in querying and analyzing datasets, including time-series data and performing statistical analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

As an Engineering Analyst, you will leverage knowledge in abuse prevention, identify and mitigate emerging threats, assess the effectiveness of existing protections, and deliver technical and operational solutions to enhance user safety and strengthen the platform's resilience against abuse.

In this role, you may review graphic, controversial, and sometimes offensive content in line with Google's policies. You will also participate in the on-call rotation schedule to manage infrequent high priority escalations that may occur outside of standard non-work hours, including weekends/holidays.

We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional teams across the company, identifying new trends, vulnerabilities and influencing company-wide direction and strategies in the counter-abuse space.
  • Work within Google Photos and Google One to set processes and priorities alongside cross-functional teams to set and reach trust, safety, and sustainability goals.
  • Identify operational and tooling improvements to the counter-abuse processes to improve quality, precision, recall, and turn-around-time.
  • Work with engineering to develop advanced solutions and machine learning algorithms to improve the protection coverage and be resilient to changes in trends.
  • Define, implement, and monitor key abuse metrics, and initiate and lead mitigation efforts to address any concerning trends.
