Senior Data Engineer, Fleet Decision Intelligence, Google Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in data analysis, database querying (e.g., SQL), and data visualization (dashboards/reports).
  • 5 years of experience scripting, working with code, or system design, and lead projects.
  • Experience in defining and implementing data governance policies, procedures, and standards, as well as data privacy regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience mentoring and leading junior engineers.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with a wide range of data engineering and data governance tools and technologies, including cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform), data warehousing solutions, data quality tools, and metadata management systems.
  • Experience with data analysis at scale, including statistics, and machine learning model development (e.g., data preparation, model selection, evaluation, tuning).
  • Experience with collaborative coding and version control.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python for data manipulation, analysis, and automation.
  • Familiarity with data center technology or supply chain.

About the job

As a Technical Solutions Consultant, you will be responsible for the technical relationship of our largest advertising clients and/or product partners. You will lead cross-functional teams in Engineering, Sales and Product Management to leverage emerging technologies for our external clients/partners. From concept design and testing to data analysis and support, you will oversee the technical execution and business operations of Google's online advertising platforms and/or product partnerships.

You will be able to balance business and partner needs with technical constraints, develop innovative, cutting edge solutions and act as a partner and consultant to those you are working with. You will also be able to build tools and automate products, oversee the technical execution and business operations of Google's partnerships, as well as develop product strategy and prioritize projects and resources.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and reliable data pipelines. Implement robust data quality checks, monitoring systems, and data lineage tracking. Advocate best practices for data engineering.
  • Write complex queries and other data manipulation languages. Conduct advanced quantitative data analysis to support business decisions and drive strategic recommendations. Mentor junior engineers on data analysis techniques.
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate data needs into actionable technical designs. Lead technical design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Design and develop insightful dashboards and reports. Effectively communicate complex technical concepts and data-driven recommendations to diverse audiences.
  • Own and drive the Data Governance charter, defining and implementing policies and ensuring compliance. Mentor and guide junior data engineers, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and technical development support.
