Senior Accountant (English, Portuguese)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 1 year with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Portuguese fluently to engage with local stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in attending external and internal audits, agreement review, process improvement, system implementation, project management, and quality control.
  • Knowledge of business recognition for both IFRS and USGAAP.
  • Ability to lead accounting processes related to monthly, quarterly and year end close.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable to changing responsibilities/priorities with a commitment to excellence and impeccable standards and integrity.
  • Ability to be collaborative and work with cross-functional and international teams at all levels.

Google accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Google. You know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. The International Controllership team aims to enable any Alphabet company to conduct business in any country, responsibly and with proper controls. We prioritize a risk-based approach, aligning resources with local and regional needs. As part of Alphabet's global controllership, we collaborate closely with various teams, including global operations, professional service providers, in-country business leaders, and finance/cross-functional teams. We support all Google businesses in Latin America and Canada, overseeing financial and regulatory accounting compliance.The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership and accountability for accuracy, timeliness, effectiveness and efficiency of financial reporting and controllership processes. Accounting tax operation and compliance, internal controls and risk management.
  • Be able to perform general agreement reviews for Non Standard agreements in light of IFRS, USGAAP (business recognition) and internal policies.
  • Provide guidance and direction on the development of financial reporting, variance analysis, and other accounting or compliance reporting/analysis processes for multiple projects.
  • Manage third-party service providers and also make sure that company processes are in line with internal controls and global processes.
  • Participate cross-functional business and governance projects; map, implement, and maintain processes and procedures to support Google’s businesses.
