News Program Manager, Global Partnerships (English, Japanese)

Minimum qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience in partnerships, business development or early-stage technical business role in the technology sector.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Japanese fluently to interact with local clients and stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or MBA, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in the news industry, including business development, programming and audience growth.
  • Ability to drive new partnerships, promote new business opportunities to existing partners, and ensure prompt and proper resolution of business issues raised by partners.
  • Excellent communication skill and autonomous at work, capable of managing changes and multi-tasks during the development phase.

The Global Partnerships organization is responsible for exploring new opportunities with Google's partners. Google’s Global Partnerships team works with a wide range of partners to bring the best of Google to power their business. The Global Partnerships team supports Google’s own Product teams with essential partnerships to help Google’s user experiences in advertising, Search, Assistant, Maps, Travel, Shopping, Payments and more. Teams create product-enabling partnerships, go-to-market strategies and incubate business growth for a variety of products.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and manage scaled programs (e.g. AI Workshops) and events (e.g. News Summit) and bespoke engagements to support news publishers within defined budgets.
  • Oversee project timelines, contracts, budgets, and deliverables with necessary internal approvals, ensuring programs are executed efficiently and are completed within the set timeframe.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define program objectives, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure alignment with Google’s goals.
  • Track and analyze program performance, providing data insights and recommendations to optimize effectiveness.
  • Prepare and deliver reports and presentations to communicate program results, insights, and market trends to internal stakeholders, highlighting areas for growth and improvement and represent Google News Initiative (GNI) in external events.
