Staff Software Engineer, Serverless Networking

Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience programming in C++.
- 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
- 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
- 5 years of experience with networking protocols (L3/L4), Software-Defined Networking (SDN) or network control planes.
- 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
- Experience with low latency networking.

Serverless Networking makes it easy to build and run fast, reliable, and secure applications by providing connectivity and security solutions that combine the power of Google with the simplicity of serverless.
In this role, you will build a highly-scalable, customer-facing software-defined network infrastructure. You will own end-to-end deliverables across all layers of our stack, operating at the intersection of rapidly growing use cases from AI inferencing and security to global web services. You will work directly with large-scale customers who care deeply about our mission, creating unique growth opportunities as you design the next generation of our layer 3 networking stack.
Responsibilities
- Ship highly-scalable, customer-facing infrastructure end-to-end for the L3 and L4 networking for Serverless containers.
- Build efficient software defined networking constructs and optimize for high bandwidth, low latency and low container startup times.
- Improve and optimize network infrastructure that handles millions of packets per second.
- Operate highly-reliable production services and innovate observability for these systems.
- Design and conduct coding components for the next generation of our layer 3 software defined networking stack.
