Tax Governance and Operations Lead

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Taxation, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • 7 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 5 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Professional qualification in tax or accounting, or experience in a controllership, accounting, or finance role.
  • Experience in a multinational or tech industry setting.
  • Experience in process excellence and project management.
  • Ability to foster and grow in an environment of continuous process improvement.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional and international teams at all levels.

About the job

International Controllership Tax Operations (ICTO) is a key part of Google's International Controllership team, with the goal of ensuring ongoing tax compliance across the globe while supporting business growth. We're a diverse team of experts managing a complex tax landscape, constantly innovating to stay ahead. Our tax operations are vital, handling over 5,000 tax filings internationally. As a Tax Governance and Operations Lead within our ICTO team, you will play a vital role in supporting and delivering these goals.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of Google's IDT process, both in-house and by vendors, while maintaining a strong internal control environment.
  • Improve complex indirect tax (IDT) processes through expertise and partnerships, manage escalations, and deliver solutions. Deliver centralized activities and ongoing engagement models with Country Controllership.
  • Drive IDT process improvements (e.g., tax automation), respond to stakeholder inquiries, and partner with Tax on new regulations.
  • Develop knowledge of tools, systems and upstream processes in support of the tax reporting function and highlight opportunities for improvement, managing projects that will yield risk mitigation and efficiency through optimization and automation.
  • Represent International Controllership through communication with our business partners including Entity Accountants and Country Controllers, Technical Accounting, Tax, Treasury, S2P, RCO, Legal and Financial Planning. Deliver implementation of optimization opportunities for tax reporting processes within International Controllership.
