Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of professional experience in engineering leadership or related technical roles.
- 5 years of experience working with big data analytics, machine learning, AI, Large Language Models (LLM) to process and create data.
- Experience operating in a hyper-growth entrepreneurial environment, scaling new and emerging products from the ground-up.
Preferred qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Experience working in the data analytics and management space.
- Experience bringing innovative, industry-leading, category-defining tech products to market.
- Experience working with executive level internal and external clients/partners, acting as a representative of the company.
- Ability to work cross-functionally, partnering with groups (e.g., Product Management, Product Marketing, UX and UI), brokering trade offs with stakeholders and understanding their needs.
- Excellent narrative and storytelling abilities, including excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
About the job
As Senior Director, Engineering, you will be responsible for leading teams of engineers in the development and delivery of Apache Airflow, Data Engineering Agents and other Data Integration and Orchestration services at GCP as part of Google Data Cloud. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to develop managed airflow, data engineering agents, and similar OSS offerings for machine learning, data ingestion and data integration services for analytics workloads. You'll support Open APIs such as Airflow, Iceberg and MLFlow etc., to develop market leading services that embrace openness, while leveraging GCP’s unique data and infrastructure advantages.
In this role, you will set and communicate a clear technical direction that supports our business goals, drive standards for engineering excellence that lead to scale and customer satisfaction, and effectively collaborate with other leaders across various functions and execution areas. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $365,000-$505,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
