Principal Technical Program Manager, YouTube

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in technical program management or engineering management.
  • Experience with enterprise grade workflow tools.
  • Experience in data analysis and visualization (SQL, Dashboards, Spreadsheets automation).
  • Experience in both front-end and back-end software engineering.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience architecting "Operating Models" for medium-scale engineering organizations.
  • Experience rolling out new processes or tools to resistant stakeholders and driving adoption through clear value proposition and empathy.
  • Experience applying Large Language Models (LLMs) across a variety of technical and strategic domains, with the output to show for it.
  • Ability to read/write scripts (e.g., Apps Script, Python, or SQL) to automate administrative tasks and build custom reporting solutions.
  • Ability to influence Directors and Vice Presidents without authority, specifically regarding roadmap trade-offs and resource allocation.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The GTMS Technology and Insights (T&I) Enablement Team focuses on the ever-evolving business and operations side of YouTube, providing tools, systems and processes that enable thousands of Googlers to support the growth of creators, artists, and YouTube as a whole.

The Enablement team is a dedicated team of Technical Program Managers (TPgMs) acting as the operating system for critical initiatives across the YouTube business. We guide the alignment of priorities for YouTube “Business Organization” teams, and operate the end-to-end development life-cycle that brings business strategy to life through strategy, technology, and data.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Redefine the space of business operations, strategic planning, partner coordination, and work tracking to create seamless, low-friction, outcome-driven processes, ceremonies, and measurement modalities.
  • Leverage your industry and technical expertise to implement and build at the of available technology.
  • Meet the needs of dozens of and program structures and partner teams, your reporting and visualization strategy will provide highly fungible, deeply intuitive insights to ensure that our data is effective.
  • Be the interplay of work and responsibilities between Director and Vice President level organizations. Not only drive the way work is tracked and planned, but how teams collaborate, and where our biggest opportunities for growth lie.
  • Have the opportunity to lead and mentor other Technical Program Managers.
