Senior Software Engineer, App Ads Audience Features

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience with back-end development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience working with two or more from the following: developing large software systems, distributed and parallel systems, networking, web application development, Unix/Linux environments, mobile application development, or security software development.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

App Ads is one of the fastest growing Ad products at Google, our flagship product, app campaigns, is trusted by millions of customers, connecting billions of users with relevant apps and delivering significant value to users, advertisers, and Google. The App Ads Audience team, a key sub-team within App Ads. Our work centers on two pillars: targeting product features and audience signals to enhance predictive model performance. We collaborate closely with product managers, sales, and advertisers to understand their targeting needs for app campaigns, developing end-to-end solutions to meet those needs. The Targeting team navigates the complex Android and iOS ecosystems, building solutions that adhere to privacy and policy regulations while simultaneously satisfying advertisers targeting and performance requirements.

We’re made up of multiple teams, building Google’s Advertising products including search, display, shopping, travel and video advertising, as well as analytics. Our teams create trusted experiences between people and businesses with useful ads. We help grow businesses of all sizes from small businesses, to large brands, to YouTube creators, with effective advertiser tools that deliver measurable results. We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the innovation, find system gaps or opportunities, validate hypothesis, design, take end-to-end ownership from ambiguous problems.
  • Develop roadmap for audience targeting features. This includes self-directing planning and scoping, and potentially leading the work of other engineers.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, apply expertise in a various range of back-end technologies, including but not limited to C++, Flume, F1, and GoogleSQL, while also mentoring others in their effective application.
  • Implement, test, and successful deploy Google's production systems and strategically enhance campaign performance and deliver Return on Investment (ROI) for advertisers.
