Business Analyst, Strategy and Operations

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience working in data analytics, consulting, data science, engineering, or a technical operations role.
  • 4 years of experience in statistical problem solving and analyzing data sets using SQL or comparable coding language (e.g. Python, R, Java, C++).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in scripting, statistical analysis (e.g., Python, R, Stata, SPSS, SAS), developing and managing metrics, and evaluating programs/products.
  • Experience in extracting, sampling and visualization of large data sets, writing and maintaining ETLs which operate on a variety of structured and unstructured sources, delivering production level metrics, insights and actions.
  • Experience in project management and process optimization with data analytics.

Product and Business Strategy Leaders bring together teams across Google’s functions to help products execute optimally. Our team pushes Google to scale at key points that refine our products and infrastructure by executing efficiently, bringing solid business sense and sound judgment, and working effectively across organizational lines.

Our roles often include components of strategy (e.g. analyzing and understanding new trends in the industry, building business plans), operations (e.g. running the cadence of organizations, connecting the operating lines between our functions), and communications. Our team partners with senior leadership to run important functions that cross-cut our existing organizations and deliver high impact projects. We help Engineers, PMs, UX, and all of our other functions to build amazing products that delight our users, and then get those products into their hands.

In this role, you will work on Google Play doing everything from engineering back-end systems, shaping the product strategy, and forming content partnerships. You will make it possible for people to do things like buy a game or ebook on their Android phone, then have it instantly available on their laptop.

Google Play offers music, movies, books, apps and games for devices, powered by the cloud. It syncs across devices and on the web. As part of the Android and Mobile team, Googlers working on Google Play do everything from engineering our backend systems, to shaping product strategy, to forming great content partnerships. They make it possible for people to do things like buy an ebook or song on their Android phone, then have it instantly available on their laptop. The Google Play team enhances the Android ecosystem by giving developers and partners a premium store where they can reach millions of users.

Responsibilities

  • Bootstrap and drive a wide range of high-impact projects, developing business cases and driving strategic decisions. Support specific go-to-market projects via developing success metrics and owning reporting back on the impact of initiatives.
  • Engage and influence stakeholders and cross-functional partners, obtain buy in for potential solutions, adapt messaging and suggested recommendations, deliver effective presentations of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leadership, creating visual displays of quantitative information.
  • Design and implement automated and standardized analysis tools, empowering business stakeholders to uncover business opportunities and make informed decisions.
  • Track and report on key operational metrics, provide insightful data-driven strategic recommendations to leadership based on analysis, experience, and good acumen. Investigate the root causes of business problems, providing solutions that go beyond superficial observations.
