The Google Security Architecture (GSA) is a security element in every Pixel phone's Tensor SoC. It is an independent CPU and separate from the main Application Processor, but can access the main bus of the rest of the SoC. It is responsible for securing cryptographic keys and providing services such as key derivation, key wrapping, and authentication.

The GSA is present in every phone build since the introduction of the Tensor SoC (Pixel 6 and newer) and is a critical security component for Pixel phones.

The team own, build, maintain and extend all the firmware running in the GSA and are responsible for its reliability and security, protecting users privacy and security.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis on security use-cases, measuring characteristics such as performance and security trade-offs.
  • Help research and refine the GSA security threat model.
  • Help lead research and implementation of next-generation security features in the Tensor SoC.
  • Work with silicon teams to align next-generation security features with software needs.
  • Work with emulation teams to models to help evaluate and test future potential Tensor security enhancements.
