Strategic Partner Manager, YouTube, Shopping Merchants

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of relevant business development experience, including identifying partners, structuring and negotiating agreements, or partner management as well as experience managing sensitive partnerships.
  • 3 years of experience working with Product, Engineering and Legal in a technology environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA degree or equivalent work experience such as management consulting.
  • Experience with Partnerships with brands, retailers, affiliate networks/providers.
  • Experience interpreting legal documents, negotiating agreements and working with legal team members to draft and execute agreements.
  • Ability to be an effective cross-functional leader managing multiple executive level stakeholders within organizations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills including an entrepreneurial and creative approach, attention to detail, demonstrated collaboration instincts and the ability to convey technical, financial or business details with clarity.
  • Passion for and understanding of YouTube products with the ability to quickly learn new technologies.

About the job

Google's line of products and services to our clients never stops growing. The Partnerships Development team is responsible for seeking and exploring new opportunities with Google's partners. Equipped with your business acumen and extensive product knowledge, you are right on the front line of interacting with our partners, and helping them find ways to grow using Google's newest product offerings. Your knowledge of relevant verticals and relationships with key industry players will help shape our great applications and content for products such as YouTube, Google TV and Commerce.

In this role, you will be a critical part of building an affiliate program for YouTube Shopping that enables creators to earn commissions from merchants for sales they drive. You will be in charge of recruiting merchants to our affiliate program and working on initiatives to drive their engagement.

You will work closely with our Product and Engineering teams to identify opportunities for us to achieve our goals via partnerships and set partnership strategy. You will negotiate agreements, lead partnership programs, and manage partnerships. You will need to work closely with cross-functional teams within YouTube and Google (Legal, Content Partnerships, Strategy, Google Shopping) so ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally will be key. In addition to expert execution on YouTube’s strategy, you’ll serve as a resource on areas you cover, bring the voice of the market to influence product roadmaps, and help lead go-to-market efforts to ensure the success of partner-related launches. Responsibilities

  • Define partnerships strategy to help achieve YouTube's Shopping goals, starting with Brand partnerships.
  • Partner with brands and retailers to close agreements and drive engagement with new product features and marketing activations.
  • Become a domain expert and thought leader for your areas, understanding unique market dynamics and engaged landscapes.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with external partners, including negotiating agreements and partner management.
  • Incubate new products and formats, ensuring that critical partner feedback gets back to the cross-functional team to optimize product development.
