Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience creating content for technical audiences (e.g., developer documentation, Computer Science course material, or IT administration playbooks).
Preferred qualifications:
- 1 year of technical writing experience.
- Understanding of Google style guidelines.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, support multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fluid environment.
About the job
Technical writers plan, create, and maintain educational content as an integral part of the engineering or user experience. The content is often in the form of documentation, but may also be UI text, sample code, videos, or other educational material. Regardless of the content medium, technical writers are distinguished by their abilities to explain complex topics in a way that’s useful to their audience.
In this role, you will take part in the new Google Cloud Platform Research and Development (R&D) center and have the opportunity to create and impact the next era of the security world.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Product Managers, and Engineering Leads to identify the critical user journeys and create information architectures that help customers.
- Write technical documentation for security analysts including new features, how-to guides, release notes and reference documents.
- Rewrite and reorganize existing documentation to improve the customer experience.
- Edit, clarify, and proofread documents written by others on the team to match the Google style guidelines.
- Manage complex documentation projects, and take responsibility for the quality documentation.
