  • Ability to work in a rapidly-changing industry and manage ambiguity while minimizing uncertainty through quantitative and qualitative insights.

Whether understanding and solving their online content concerns, navigating within global legal frameworks, or writing and enforcing worldwide policy, the Trust & Safety team is on the frontlines of enhancing the YouTube experience, building internet safety, and protecting free speech in our ever-evolving digital world.

As an Investigations Analyst (Influence Operations), you are passionate about threat research and all source intelligence analysis. You leverage investigative experience and creativity to understand and analyze sophisticated abuse activity and are motivated to protect the integrity of the YouTube platform and user base. You have a passion for extracting insights from information and expertise in analytic writing and communicating intelligence findings to varied audiences. You grow in a fast, dynamic, demanding environment where the threat actor landscape is constantly evolving. You will be a key contributor to the efforts to reduce badness on YouTube. You will be part of a team responsible for mitigating the influence operations threat to the YouTube platform and user base.

In this role, you will contribute to high touch, technical investigations, policy development and threat research. You will work alongside legal, product and engineering stakeholders to implement effective abuse detection and prevention mechanisms.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate abuse and threat actors on the YouTube platform in order to understand techniques, impact and attribution.
  • Participate in high velocity analytic work flow ensuring tight deadlines are consistently met and reporting deliverables reflect best practice intelligence assessments. 
  • Prepare written analytic products, presentations and strategic insights for executive YouTube leadership and to the broader organization.
  • Work together with cross-functional teams on scaling investigative workflows, developing new capabilities, tools and data manipulation techniques and ensuring our posture is resilient against emerging threats.
