Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in a technical project management or a customer-facing role.
  • 2 years of experience as a Cloud Engineer, Software Engineer, or a Technical Solutions Consultant.
  • Experience with Software Engineering, writing and maintaining code (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Ruby, Python, or Bash), SQL, Google Cloud, and Git.
  • Experience provisioning and maintaining infrastructure with Terraform (infrastructure as code).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certification in Professional Cloud Architect for Google Cloud, Terraform, or other SWE/AI certifications
  • Experience building or working with learning platforms, technical writing.
  • Experience as a writer or learning professional (e.g., teacher, curriculum developer, instructional designer, technical writer, etc.).

About the job

As a part of the Lab Architect team, you will design and build interactive, engaging learning experiences for Google Skills. Interactive labs provide learners with experience navigating the extensive portfolio of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and other products. In this role, you’ll write, configure, and maintain the logic that powers these labs ensuring they are reliable, accessible, relevant, and up-to-date. In collaboration with product and engineering Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Learning Design Specialists, and Technical Curriculum Developers, you’ll ensure labs can be easily integrated into broader educational contexts and repurposed to serve a variety of use cases. Beyond lab creation, you will explore innovative new approaches to technical education and guide other teams in developing their own high-quality labs. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$204,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, maintain, and deprecate labs using tools like Git, Markdown, YAML, and Google Cloud Skills Boost (GCSB) platform technologies.
  • Develop creative solutions to challenges, ensuring labs remain effective and engaging learning tools.
  • Partner with vendors, Google teams, and Cloud product SMEs to ensure labs adhere to best practices, style guides, and learning objectives.
  • Use performance data and user feedback to refine processes, tools, and measure lab success based on learner and organizational goals.
  • Identify and manage projects focused on process optimization and enhancing the learner experience.
