Minimum qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in API Design and Mobile Development.
  • 5 years of experience programming in Java or Kotlin.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience with Android or iOS application development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with Data Structures/Algorithms, Java, Objective-C, TypeScript, Full-Stack Development.
  • 3 years of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

The YouTube Ads Client and Rendering Infrastructure team is at the forefront of innovation, reimagining how ads are designed, served, and experienced by over a billion users globally. Our mission is to build platforms to make YouTube Ads development and iteration fast, scalable, detectable and safe. We focus on building robust architecture to dramatically simplify new feature development. We integrate insights into our systems, transforming how we understand and optimize performance. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Build scalable, reliable systems. Enable fast development while keeping YouTube safe. Monitoring, integration testing, etc.
  • Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Enable launches across multiple product areas, parallel playbacks on the same device, live streams, video on demand, shorts.
