Manager, Manufacturing Test and Product Engineering

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in product manufacturing or manufacturing test.
  • 8 years of experience in people management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in working with Original Design Manufacturer (ODMs), contract manufacturers and component suppliers for data center server accelerator products (e.g., Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), Field-programmable Gate Array (FPGA) or Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC)), and to drive root cause analysis, corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Experience with designing, manufacturing, and deployment of data center compute, accelerator or storage products and related systems/solutions.
  • Ability to travel internationally as required.
  • Ability to manage multiple vendor related activities for manufacturing, test, quality or software systems.

Your team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google's powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you're right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google's infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google's infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

Through your leadership, you leverage your technical expertise to design and analyze products and related data, develop and improve manufacturing and supportive processes, and provide consultation to vendors, manufacturers, and internal teams. You lead complex projects to completion by managing resources and activities along the way. Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor New Product Introduction (NPI) Product and Test Engineers, setting expectations, providing feedback, tracking progress, and promoting collaborative environment.
  • Make decisions to reduce costs, mitigate risks, and meet deadlines. Possess communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders and encourage team communication.
  • Act as expert for resolving issues, providing technical leadership, and directing failure analysis and risk management for technical and non-technical tests.
  • Develop and execute plans for NPI activities, aligning them with company goals, optimizing processes, and driving cross-organizational initiatives with impact.
  • Oversee the design of advanced manufacturing solutions, define test strategies, and lead teams in resolving yield issues while collaborating cross-functionally and assessing technology and manufacturing risks.
