Head of UPI Initiatives and Ecosystem engagement, GPay

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in business development, enterprise sales, or partnership development.
  • Experience in dealing with regulators, industry bodies and C-Suite executives at large organizations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in the payments or banking industry.
  • Experience working with digital payments.
  • Understanding of platforms to deliver the customer solutions.
  • Ability to drive results across technical and business domains.
  • Excellent partnerships, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Google Pay (GPay) allows people to instantly send money to a contact, pay their bills, recharge their mobile balance, or make a purchase at the corner store. Google Pay is about making money simple for everyone with more convenient shopping experiences at stores and online, as well as access to financial services like loans or repayment plans.

GPay India has one of the best reliability in the UPI ecosystem today. There is increasiItalicng complexity across new forms of payments such as UPI Lite, RuPay Credit Card on UPI, Creditline on UPI etc and this requires innovative ways to manage transaction reliability for new Form Of Payments (FoP) as well. UPI continues to grow in scale and scope and new features continue to be launched - UPI is today a 15B+ monthly payment system; driving launch and managing them is critical to continue to grow and be relevant for our users.

GPay operates extensively with the regulator and regulated entites across its lines of business, and is committed to ensuring business growth while maintaining compliance, doing right by the User, Regulator, Partners and the Ecosystem as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Partnerships team on National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) relationship across levels [*this is a key relationship for GPay, being a network and Quasi regulator*]. Partner with Banks across levels and UPI Technology Service Providers (TSP).
  • Lead initiatives on Internationalization of UPI and other NPCI/Platform Initiatives. Incubate and potentially lead new areas of business on payments and Financial Services.
  • Lead GPay’s relationship [in partnership with GAPP & Legal] in the wider ecosystem including RBI, MEITY, MoF, UADAI, State Governments and other Govt/ Quasi Govt bodies and associations such IAMAI, PCI, CII and FICCI. 
  • Engage with Frontend active/reactive with these bodies and create alignment and advocacy for efforts, respond to incoming asks to create alignment.
  • Drive advocacy for key regulatory alignment, and stakeholder management with key regulators and industry bodies.
