Associate Product Counsel, Google Play

Minimum qualifications:

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.
  • 3 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.
  • Experience in digital platforms, consumer protection, advertising, promotions, contract, privacy, competition, or intellectual property law.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in product counseling digital consumer platforms particularly issues like consumer protection and privacy but also including issues like commerce, marketing, IP, and competition.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams (e.g., Product Management, Implementation, Legal, Finance, Marketing, etc.).
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem solving, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to deliver results in a timely manner.

As an Associate Corporate Counsel on the Google Play and Developer Ecosystem Legal team, supporting engineering, product management, and product strategy to navigate complex legal issues related to the development and global distribution of digital content and services on mobile, PC, wearables, AR, and TV.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $210,000-$312,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel and advise Engineering, Product Management, Trust and Safety, and cross-functional teams globally to launch innovative features.
  • Ensure compliance with global laws including privacy, consumer protection, competition, and intellectual property.
  • Develop and maintain a repository of legal resources that are required for products (e.g., terms of service, privacy notices, and other disclosures).
  • Respond promptly to a wide range of legal requests from cross-functional teams.
