About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

Google's Global Submarine Networks (GSN) project is expanding our worldwide cable infrastructure, aiming for faster, more reliable, and resilient connectivity. This critical initiative requires specialized expertise in areas like submarine cable systems, Network Operations, Security Operations, Network Delivery, Operational Systems, and Data & Quality Assurance.

As the Regional Security Operations Lead, you will lead security and intelligence operations for our cable landing stations (CLS) in a specific region. You'll be responsible for all facets of security, including physical security, personnel security (managing guard forces), cybersecurity, risk assessments, threat analysis, and crisis management. You will collaborate closely with local and international law enforcement and internal teams to safeguard Google assets and personnel. Your work will involve developing security programs, managing budgets, and implementing solutions across a wide geographic area, with a strong focus on proactive threat mitigation.

Responsibilities

  • Create and oversee extensive security programs for cable landing stations, covering physical security, personnel security, cybersecurity, and intelligence operations. This includes defining scope, managing budgets, and implementing solutions.
  • Lead the identification, prioritization, and remediation of system vulnerabilities, while also conducting thorough risk assessments and threat analyses.
  • Build and maintain an intelligence plan to collect, analyze, and disseminate information on threats, producing assessments and briefings to inform proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Manage all physical security measures, including access control, surveillance, and security personnel, and lead security investigations and incident response.
  • Develop security policies, ensure adherence to industry regulations (e.g. ISO 27001), conduct audits, and provide regular, clear reports to executive management and external stakeholders.
