Customer Engineer, Start-up, Google Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience with cloud native architecture, including application hosting and cloud AI.
  • Experience architecting solutions for data transformation, migration, governance strategies or disaster recovery.
  • Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in startup or digital natives.
  • Experience with networking concepts (e.g., Routing, VPNs, load balancers, and firewalls).
  • Experience with private, hybrid, or public cloud technology, migrating windows or Linux, including virtualization.
  • Experience with data centers consolidation, relocation, migration, or virtualization projects.
  • Experience in architecting and developing software or infrastructure for scalable, distributed systems.
  • Experience in configuration management (e.g., Puppet, Chef, CFEngine, Salt), and functional operations of server, storage, and network functions.

In this role, you will partner with technical sales teams as a data management subject matter expert to differentiate Google Cloud for our customers in the startup ecosystem. You will help prospective and existing customers and partners understand the power of Google Cloud, develop creative cloud solutions and architectures to solve their business issues, engage in proofs of concept, and troubleshoot technical questions and roadblocks related to database and application migrations and data back-ends for new application development. You will use your expertise and presentation skills to engage with customers, understand their business and technical requirements, and persuasively present practical solutions on Google Cloud. You will possess excellent technical, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assess current application and infrastructure setups for customers and assist in the creation and execution of comprehensive migration plans.
  • Troubleshoot and partner with operations, support, and engineering functions to ensure successful migrations, including traveling to customer sites and advocating at industry conferences or related events.
  • Conduct technical sessions for internal teams, partners, and customers to manage technical success and accelerate business growth.
  • Assist with the creation of cloud migration strategies, including defining architectures, collaborating on migration plans, and designing the orchestration of deployment phases. Demonstrate and prototype Google Cloud Platform (GCP) product integrations within customer and partner environments to prove technical viability.
  • Identify and qualify migration opportunities, addressing key customer technical objections and developing strategies to resolve technical blockers.
