Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in managing people and leading teams.
  • Experience with Generative AI.
  • Ability to set and achieve ambitious goals, prioritize work, manage resources, and drive AI transformation across the team.
  • Ability to set expectations, provide feedback and coaching, invest in team members development, and hire/build high-performing teams.
  • Excellent technical skills aligning with the software engineering role profile, including skills in areas like systems architecture, software testing, and debugging.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

The mission of the Vertex Inference on hybrid clouds is to introduce AI/ML capabilities (including Generative AI, Machine Learning Operations (MLOps), etc.) to Google Cloud, and make it super reliable, performant, cost effective, flexible, and simple for Google Cloud customers. This team will be focusing on bringing the best of Google’s machine learning investments, including Large Language Model (LLM) serving and tuning and more, along with cloud and Operational Support Systems (OSS) technologies to provide the ML infrastructure, tools and services that powers Google Cloud customers. The platform aims at researchers, data scientists, and data engineers across enterprises, startups and solution providers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a team of talented engineers in designing, developing, and deploying, easy-to-use and scalable AI/ML platform capabilities.
  • Build and motivate a high-functioning team of Software Engineers with expertise in Vertex AI on cloud.
  • Enable Generative AI capabilities on Google Cloud.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, empower team members to take ownership, and provide constructive feedback for continuous growth.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment, promoting open communication and knowledge sharing.
