Senior Data Scientist, Product, App Safety Engineering

Minimum qualifications:

  • 8 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, performing statistical analysis, and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL) or 5 years work experience with a Master's degree.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 8 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, performing statistical analysis, and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
  • Experience leveraging large-scale data to design and implement solutions that improve abuse detection, review and enforcement effectiveness across policies.
  • Experience translating complex abuse data into actionable insights, driving automation and system improvements through insights, data modeling, experimentation.

Help serve Google's worldwide user base of more than a billion people. Data Scientists provide quantitative support, market understanding and a strategic perspective to our partners throughout the organization. As a data-loving member of the team, you serve as an analytics expert for your partners, using numbers to help them make better decisions. You will weave stories with meaningful insight from data. You'll make critical recommendations for your fellow Googlers in Engineering and Product Management. You relish tallying up the numbers one minute and communicating your findings to a team leader the next.

As a Data Scientist on the App safety Engineering team, you will work with multiple stakeholders across product, engineering and operation teams to define metrics and deliver actionable insights to drive App safety Engineering team, key decisions. Analysis will span ecosystem impact and model efficacy. You will be responsible for translating data into meaningful recommendations and, where relevant, implementing process improvements. You will work collaboratively across functions including Product Management, Engineering, Operations and Program Management. To succeed in this role, the Product Analyst should be someone who is highly quantitative, experienced in facilitating decisions through data, and capable of prioritizing requests from multiple stakeholders to have the most impact.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Work with large, complex internal datasets to solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems, applying advanced analytical methods as needed.
  • Conduct analysis that includes data gathering and requirements specification, processing, analysis, ongoing deliverables, and presentations.
  • Develop, own, and evolve investigative frameworks providing a source of truth measures for the organization.
  • Conduct analyses that reveal opportunities and risks, enabling the team to understand trends and prioritize resources.
  • Act as a thought partner for technical stakeholders in Product Management (PM), Engineering (Eng), and Operations (Ops) teams to define performance goals, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and other success measurements, and make recommendations based on data and business context.
