Senior Data Scientist, Search Community

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with statistical data analysis, data mining, and querying (e.g., SQL).
  • 3 years of experience managing analytical projects.
  • Experience designing A/B tests, analyzing experimental results to validate assumptions, measuring product efficacy, and informing product decisions.
  • Experience working with consumer-facing technical products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in scripting, statistical analysis (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS, SAS), developing and managing metrics, and evaluating programs/products.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • 1 year of experience preparing and delivering technical presentations to executive leadership.

About the job

In this role, you will leverage Google's AI foundation to select, organize, summarize, and ultimately make User Generated Content (UGC) content more easily consumable on SRP. You will bring this content to Search results directly via Community-owned features and indirectly by serving curated UGC content with other teams and SRP features.

In this role, you will also work with our Product and Engineering leads to launch innovative features on the Google Search Page that bring authentic and relatable human perspectives to Search results. You will seek to understand how our users consume UGC on our surfaces and third-party platforms and how Google can be more useful to our users in a world where so much content is created on social platforms, yet finding what is truly helpful is challenging.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis utilizing relevant tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python). Help solve problems, narrowing down multiple options into the best approach, and take ownership of open-ended ambiguous business problems to reach an optimal solution.
  • Build new processes, procedures, methods, tests, and components with foresight to anticipate and address future issues.
  • Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to support business reviews with the cross-functional/organizational leadership team. Translate analysis results to business insights or product improvement opportunities.
  • Build and prototype analysis and business cases iteratively to provide insights at scale. Develop comprehensive knowledge of Google data structures and metrics, advocating for changes where needed for product development.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to design and execute A/B tests, analyze experimental results to validate assumptions, measure product efficacy, and inform launch decisions.
