Senior Data Engineer, Finance Data and Analytics

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience coding with one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript).
  • 5 years of experience analyzing data, database querying (e.g., SQL), and creating dashboards/reports.
  • 5 years of experience designing data pipelines (ETL) and dimensional data modeling for synch and asynch system integration and implementation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience partnering with stakeholders (e.g., users, partners, customers), developing project plans, and delivering projects on time within budget and scope.
  • Experience working in large scale data engineering implementations (e.g., data architecture, data processing pipelines, data validation and monitoring).
  • Knowledge of one or more Finance functional areas (e.g. accounting, planning and budgeting, business intelligence, payroll, procure-to-pay).
  • Ability to drive and execute full life-cycle system implementations (analyze, design, build, test, implement, support).
  • Excellent communication skills, strong analytical skills, and ability to manage ambiguity.

About the job

The Finance Data and Analytics (DnA) team combines business acumen, technology and innovation to organize data, enable insights and create data driven and efficient Finance organization in Google. As part of this team, you will have a unique opportunity to gain perspectives on Google’s core businesses, services and the products.

As a Data Engineer in DnA, you will be part of a growing Data Engineering team that is shaping how Google Finance and Alphabet consume financial information. You will work on strategic business challenges across multiple business areas (e.g., Google Ads, YouTube, Search, Google Play, etc.) and will play a critical role, in collaboration with Finance leads as well as Product and Corporate Engineering, in developing and executing plans that deliver solutions to optimize the finance reporting experience.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000-$220,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable data processing pipelines, self-serve BI, ETLs, and other infrastructure enhancements to deliver high-quality data products.
  • Build innovative solutions and drive the execution of strategic initiatives to deliver intuitive, reliable, and well-governed data solutions to Finance teams and beyond.
  • Foster cross-functional partnerships with Product and Corporate Engineering teams to drive holistic, centrally-managed, single sources of truth that address the needs of the masses.
  • Maintain high levels of development practices including technical design; solution development; systems configuration; test documentation/execution; issue identification and resolution; writing clean, modular and self-sustaining code.
