Director, Tax Reporting and International Tax Operations

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • CPA license.
  • 20 years of work experience (public accounting or industry) in the areas of tax accounting and compliance.
  • 10 years of management experience.
  • Experience with ASC 740 tax provisions and US GAAP standards.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in analysis and resolution of complex tax accounting issues and leading the development and maintenance of global tax accounting policies.
  • Experience leading the management and improvement of income tax provision process and SOX 404 control design and management for large multinational corporations.
  • Experience in the coordination and management of independent financial audit of the global tax provision.
  • Ability to serve as a motivational team leader who can set effective short-term and strategic long-term goals for a dynamic team to foster continual growth.

You'll find ways to work smarter by streamlining and automating our tax processes and systems, and find ways to be both innovative and compliant.

In this role, you will play as a key member of the tax leadership team and will have oversight of the tax provision and the US and state income tax return process, continually contributing to the transformation of the income tax function to scale for growth, establish tax policies on material and significant tax provision issues, serve as a primary tax provision and compliance adviser for internal and external partners, set our tax provision strategy, and lead the tax provision and compliance team to effectively manage and service the Alphabet structure.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $243,000-$350,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Establish tax provision policies, and oversee global financial reporting of income taxes and related audits, process and controls supporting financial reporting, and support for other corporate transactions.
  • Manage and review quarterly FIN 48 (i.e. uncertain tax position) work papers and memos.
  • Oversee US federal and state income tax compliance process ensuring compliance with evolving legislation such as TCJA and similar.
  • Establish directions, goals, and priorities in coordination with the goals of Alphabet, and define roles and responsibilities, scope, process, and sign off related to Alphabet global tax provision and US and state income tax compliance.
  • Lead tax provision and compliance teams in partnering with global internal stakeholders at Google and Alphabet.
