Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience with performance, systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience shipping complex embedded software products.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience developing Linux systems, Android systems, or embedded systems.
  • Experience with TPU, GPU, and on-device ML models.
  • Experience with SQL and data pipelines.

The Pixel Camera teams design and deliver cameras and provide exceptional user experience. We work to showcase the image processing, computational photography, machine learning technologies, and deliver the imaging software solutions for users. We also try to transform how people interact with newer and smarter Android devices.

In this role, you will collaborate with Camera pipeline and algorithm teams across Pixel Camera app and underlying subsystems to ensure the utmost performance and reliability of the entire Camera experience in both lab and field environments. You will use data to guide development teams in prioritizing the opportunities for improvement. You will identify problematic anti-patterns and share best practices widely to maximize impact. You will contribute significantly towards a truly polished Pixel Camera product worthy of industry and user accolades!Google is an engineering company at heart. Responsibilities

  • Lead (often cross-team) initiatives to define, measure, optimize, and monitor key performance indicators in Pixel Camera's Android application code.
  • Collaborate with Camera feature and on-device ML teams to ensure features are optimized for speed, memory, and thermals.
  • Develop and utilize telemetry data infrastructure to offer leadership insights crucial for verifiable high performance, reliability, and system health.
  • Provide in-depth insights from advanced profiling tools to prioritize and validate improvements.
