Database Practice Specialist, Google Cloud (Multiple Languages)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in the enterprise software or cloud space.
  • Experience with one or more database technologies such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch and graph databases.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL database technologies and in positioning the right database for a customer’s application use case.
  • Ability to communicate in English and in one or more of the following: Mandarin or Bahasa Indonesia or Thai, fluently to support client relationship management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience helping customers design and build applications using open source or cloud-native databases.
  • Customer-facing pre-sales or professional consulting experience in the fields of data and information lifecycle management translating customer business needs into cloud centric solutions.
  • Experience with data management architectures including storage subsystems, high availability, backup/recovery, disaster recovery, performance, scalability, security, monitoring and database management.
  • Experience with data migration strategies and moving large-scale production systems either in on-premise or data center environments or migration to cloud scenarios.

As a Database Practice Specialist, you will be a subject matter expert on the Google database portfolio and help develop new solution initiatives and materials to support a broad cross-functional group of internal stakeholders and partners. You will also engage with strategic customers to articulate the Google databases portfolio and help design and optimize the customers data management environment using Google Cloud databases. You will help ensure technical and commercial readiness of these solutions, including assets to enable go-to-market teams, and provide field feedback to the Product and Engineering teams to help shape product direction.

Responsibilities

  • Be a subject matter expert for one or more of the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) database portfolio like Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, and cloud-native databases like Cloud Spanner and Cloud Bigtable.
  • Identify and qualify business opportunities, identify key customer technical objections, and develop a strategy to resolve technical blockers.
  • Lead discovery workshops for customers to assess existing application environments to identify workloads and goals for moving to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) databases.
  • Support the technical relationship with Google’s customers, including product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and the coordination and prioritization of solutions impacting customer adoption of Google Cloud.
  • Share best practices on promoting databases among accounts/account teams and elevate strategic mind-share with those accounts.
