About the job

At Google, we put our users first. The world is always changing, so we need Product Managers who are continuously adapting and excited to work on products that affect millions of people every day.

In this role, you will work cross-functionally to guide products from conception to launch by connecting the technical and business worlds. You can break down complex problems into steps that drive product development.

One of the many reasons Google consistently brings innovative, world-changing products to market is because of the collaborative work we do in Product Management. Our team works closely with creative engineers, designers, marketers, etc. to help design and develop technologies that improve access to the world's information. We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users.

Climate change is one of the most daunting challenges of the 21st century. Teams across Google are applying machine learning and other approaches with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by hundreds of millions of tons per year. Given the immensity of the problem, we are pursuing many parallel efforts, including partnerships that span Research and product teams across Google.

Aviation is responsible for 3-5% of human-caused warming, and includes significant opportunities that can have an outsized impact on climate. Google Research has pioneered a satellite and ML-based approach for detecting and avoiding contrails, which can trap heat and have a significant non-CO2 warming effect. The sustainability team in Search is partnering with Research to scale the adoption of contrail avoidance across the aviation industry.

In Google Search, we're reimagining what it means to search for information – any way and anywhere. To do that, we need to solve complex engineering challenges and expand our infrastructure, while maintaining a universally accessible and useful experience that people around the world rely on. In joining the Search team, you'll have an opportunity to make an impact on billions of people globally.

Responsibilities

  • Lead product management for contrail avoidance in the Sustainable Journeys team in Google Search. You will have a close partnership with the Google Research team that founded Project Contrails as well as the Google Flights team.
  • Articulate solutions requirements through deep engagement with end users (airlines), stakeholders (regulators, outside environmental groups), and partners (Google Flights, academics), and deep understanding of the science (via reading peer-reviewed papers), designing appropriate solutions and tradeoffs in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Navigate critical partnerships strategy. Partner closely with sustainability-focused business development teams in both the US and EMEA, working to shape our go-to-market strategy.
