  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of software based technical product management experience.
  • 5 years of experience managing and leading teams of product managers.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Business Platforms or Business Products, or Commerce products.
  • People leadership experience in hiring and developing product managers on the team and coaching a high-performance team.
  • Cross-functional stakeholder management skills with experience communicating with C-level executives.

The Merchant Foundations Insights and Growth team is responsible for delivering seamless merchant onboarding and foundational experiences on Google, meeting them where they are. This team builds actionable insights to help merchants grow their business on Google, provides merchandising tools to drive growth through deepening user relationships, and enables merchants to showcase their brand and products through rich, inspirational content.

As Director, you will be responsible for the multi-year outlook, strategy, and execution of the products that form the foundation of the merchant experience. You will lead a talented team of product managers to build and scale key marquee products like Google Merchant Center, manage critical partnerships and integrations with the retail ecosystem, and develop innovative generative AI experiences like Google Product Studio to help merchants succeed. This role is highly cross-functional, at the intersection of product, engineering, data science, partnerships, and UX/design.

In this role, you will be responsible for building the ML and intelligence into the data provided to power the most relevant shopping experiences for shoppers across their many shopping journeys, spanning from Google Search, YouTube, Google Maps, Gemini App, and Google Shopping Ads.

We’re made up of multiple teams, building Google’s Advertising products including search, display, shopping, travel and video advertising, as well as analytics. Our teams create trusted experiences between people and businesses with useful ads. We help grow businesses of all sizes from small businesses, to large brands, to YouTube creators, with effective advertiser tools that deliver measurable results. We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $272,000-$383,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive the multi-year outlook and strategic roadmap for the Merchant Center, Partnership, and overall merchant product portfolio.
  • Drive step changes in the foundational merchant experience, from seamless onboarding to growth-driving insights and merchandising tools, including infusing agentic actions to support merchants.
  • Identify new opportunities for merchant growth and emerging ecosystem trends ahead of new product and geographical expansions.
  • Serve as a key leader and partner to executive stakeholders in Engineering, Partnerships, Operations, and Go-to-Market to ensure a cohesive and effective strategy for merchant success.
  • Partner with Engineering, UX, and Partnerships teams to build and deploy great product experience and scalable platform integrations.
