Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming, templates, and Standard Template Library (STL).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in designing, productionizing and debugging large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience leading technically challenging, cross-functional infrastructure projects from inception to production deployment and operation.
  • Experience in Ads infrastructure, distributed systems, and large-scale backend services.
  • Experience working in Full-Stack development and ability to understand modeling aspects.
  • Experience optimizing system performance (latency, throughput, efficiency) and ensuring reliability along with excellent problem-solving and communication skills and passion for mentoring engineers and amplifying the team's impact.

With your technical expertise you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

In this role, you will lead the engineering efforts to integrate and scale advertising experiences on Waze using the Google Ads tech stack. This role is at the alignment of business growth products and cross-functional integration. You will mentor the team of engineers providing technical direction for critical initiatives in Waze Ads and build upon the foundations of Promoted Pins in Navigation, unlock new inventory sources like In-Car Projected Mode, Roaming Mode, Search Ads for Waze while addressing the challenges.

We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor engineers while fostering technical excellence. Set technical direction and road maps for Waze Ads, aligning with the team goals.
  • Oversee the design of scalable, high-quality systems and advocate best practices like reliability testing. Own team execution to ensure timely, high-quality delivery. Be accountable for the delivery, including design, coding, deployment and experiments.
  • Partner with Product and UX to prioritize initiatives and translate requirements into technical plans. Manage project scope, resources, risks, and dependencies for efficient execution.
  • Coordinate with Geo, Waze, and other teams to deliver integrated solutions. Communicate technical trade-offs to stakeholders and influence alignment across engaging priorities.
  • Propose new opportunities in location-based advertising and explore emerging technologies. Use data-driven analysis and experiments to optimize products for user experience and business growth.
